LGD in TECH of Carlsbad, CA, USA, a consortium dedicated to facilitating collaboration between diamond growers and global technology, scientific and industrial sectors, has appointed Rod St. Michel as director of strategic partnerships, bringing together diamond growers, diamond users, and R&D entities. With a background in both the lab-grown diamond industry (including VP of global sales at Diamond Foundry) and consumer electronics, he brings experience in technology via positions with Hewlett-Packard and Cisco. In addition, he made significant contributions to both Netgear and Sonos when they were in their infancy. His expertise includes cross-functional collaboration within startups, as well as multi-national companies. Rod St. Michel will be focused on expanding LGD in TECH membership of diamond growers, plus tech scientists, engineers and product developers within major industrial sectors such as aerospace, defense, high-powered electronics, laser systems, medical devices, microwave, optics/photonics, quantum devices, and semiconductors (which have a combined value of about $4 trillion). He will also be instrumental in forging new partnerships between top diamond growers and technology sector product developers. His strategic vision and extensive network are expected to significantly enhance LGD in TECH’s reach and impact globally. His goal is to increase collaboration among the world’s most technically advanced diamond growers and global scientific, technology and industrial sectors. “After our first tech tradeshow last month, SEMICON West in San Francisco, we were inundated with interest from tech companies who wished to collaborate with diamond growers. We immediately sought out a candidate that understood both the diamond world and the tech companies that could use diamond,” says co-founder & CEO Liz Chatelain. “His deep expertise and proven track record in both the lab-grown diamond and consumer electronics sectors will enhance the consortium’s ability to bring grown diamond to the forefront of developing highly functional, long-lasting and sustainably produced diamond to everyday consumer products as well as advanced technical equipment used here on earth and beyond.”
