0 comments DISTRICT OF EPIROS for the support of the audiovisual sector in Epirus, recognizing its importance, but also knowing the particularities of the region, has funded the short film “Acheronts”. The film begins its journey as a complete artistic-creative work, and makes its panhellenic premiere, having been officially selected at the 47th International Dramatic Short Film Festival 2024 (DISFF 47 2024) in the National Program of the Student Competition of the Festival. The first screening of the film will take place on Wednesday 4th September at Cinema Olympia at 17:30 while it will also be available online during the Festival at the following link ONLINE FESTIVAL – DISFF 47 -2024 (dramafilmfestival.gr) The film entitled “Acheront”, directed by Konstantinas Papadopoulou and written by Mata Kourtis, is financed not only by the REGION OF EPIRUS but also by the HELLENIC FILM CENTER, and was made with the support of the EPIRUS FILM OFFICE of the Region of Epirus. The script follows the story of a couple who decide to spend a weekend in nature and on the river Acheron. While there, they try to find new balances in their relationship that has been tested by a significant loss. While the place and its mythology, the imposing “boatman” influences them, and pushes them to redefine their relationship. The impressive landscape and the legend surrounding it were the inspiration for the screenplay. It was there that the idea of a story that connected the ancient myth with the natural environment was born. The crystalline waters of the river came to the big screen as the backdrop for the story. The uniqueness of the area with its centuries-old plane trees, the complex ecosystem and the crystal clear waters stand out and highlight the story. The hospitable residents and professionals of the municipalities of Parga and Souli, and especially those of Ammoudia and Glyki, where most of the filming took place, contributed decisively to the success of the film. This is a fictional film shot on the river Acheron, at its mouth and sources, in the settlements of Ammoudia and Glyki, forest on the beach of Alonaki (Municipality of Fanariu – Preveza Regional Unit). Of course, during the site selection survey (scouting – répérage), other points were also examined and recorded, such as Parga, the area of Ormos tou Odysseus, up to the beach of Alonaki, as well as places in the regional unit of Thesprotia (e.g. Lake Kalodiki, etc.) which will be used for the enrichment of the database of the EPIRUS FILM OFFICE The film is a production of the company IONEVBEE, in co-production with LIBRART PERFORMING ARTS ENSEMBLE and NEANIKO PLANO with the support – financing of the REGION OF EPIRUS and the HELLENIC CINEMA CENTER, and the support of the EPIRUS FILM OFFICE.
