Startups like IonQ, for example, are building quantum computing hardware, while others like Cambridge Quantum Computing are focusing on developing quantum software that wouldn’t be possible on conventional systems.
Beyond computing, quantum tech companies are working on new approaches to communication (e.g. Quantropi), cybersecurity (Post-Quantum), and sensors (Qnami).
Investors have taken notice. Funding and deals to startups in the nascent space set new records last year, with more than $400M raised across 40 deals.
