US software unicorn Symphony opens Belfast office

May 31, 2024

Belfast Fri 31 May 2024 Share this US software unicorn Symphony has chosen Belfast as the destination for its new “multifunctional hub”. New York-based Symphony, a communications software provider for the finance industry valued at $1.4bn, will establish the new office space in Northern Ireland, following its participation in the NI Investment Summit. According to the company, it was impressed by the “talent and opportunities for growth in Belfast” seen at the event. “The NI Investment Summit was by far the best investment event I’ve ever been to, and I was keen to explore the potential of Northern Ireland for Symphony,” said company chair Ben Chrnelich. “After speaking to other investors and to the local universities, we were convinced that Northern Ireland offered a great fit for us.” Chrnelich said the new venture would see the company partner with local universities to offer placements and employment with an initial target of creating 17 new roles in the Northern Irish capital, with plans to “establish a much larger operation in Belfast” down the line. Symphony also has offices in London, Paris, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Stockholm and Tel Aviv Steve Harper, Invest NI’s executive director of international business added: “Symphony has indicated that Northern Ireland’s highly skilled talent supply across a number of functions as well as strong business links to academia were important factors in its decision to locate here. “The company’s presence here will further strengthen Northern Ireland’s reputation as a centre of excellence for tech and financial services.”
